　　“本质上，人是孤独的，人也在尽力拒绝孤独。”在后疫情时代，每个人都多多少少感到某种“孤独”和虚无，独立的个体是如此需要群体。

　　从2005年开始，袁进华着手创作「抱抱」系列，“「抱抱」描述的是一种温暖治愈、关爱相愉的互动关系，是人际之间含有希望的沟通方式，或许还有一种游戏心理。”画面里的人有不同的面貌，无序、可爱，动作有群体叠罗汉式的抱姿，有两组人抱一个人的，甚至在悬崖边，“任何时刻，任何地方，这些活动既好玩有趣又惊险，但在我的世界里都是有惊无险的游戏。”袁进华把真情、幽默、关爱、温暖交织在一起，系统地展示了他的艺术观和世界观。

　　这些年，袁进华把大量的时间花费在位于龙坞的工作室里，和少量的人、大量的作品及草稿相处，对于艺术家而言，工作室是隔绝尘世的精神堡垒。

　　“看似是不同的众人抱抱游戏，其实是一个人不同时期的心理状态。以人物组合，强调的是人本我。人的行为方式都是来自内心深处不安与情绪波动。”在袁进华看来，创作的过程也是自我意识的觉醒。

　　每个个体的命运都是历史命运的一小部分。“在刚刚结束的全球疫情之下，当人类被病毒笼罩，该如何自处？我们和他人和社会的关系是否还一如从前，世界每天都有新的变化，我们该随波逐流还是坚守自我……”也许，《抱抱》就像一个媒介，让人们产生更多的思考。

　　袁进华是乐于拥抱新事物的艺术家。他的创作源起于深邃水墨传统，却又跳脱旧有程式规则，在破界中不断尝试新的可能。于他而言，笔墨和技法不再是驻足探讨的话题，更重要的是如何借之表达自身对当下时代的感受与回应。

　　他将所思所感凝练为拥抱的图式，并在其间重链隐微的内在关联。作为持续近十年之久的系列创作，袁进华的《抱抱》不断在变化的语境中衍生新的语意，而贯穿其中的线索则是他对“关系”的玩味和探寻。尽管人性本质乃是社会关系之集合，但远溯文明之初，世界均被看作整体，万事万物皆于和谐共生的关系中融汇，自我（心灵）与世界并没有疏离。然而随着人被不断放大，秩序开始失衡、混乱，尤其在商品化的消费社会中，个体的价值虽然体现在关系中，人却愈加被物化、疏远。袁进华作品中的拥抱，意味着打破物性的边界，重新聚拢离散的内心。尤其在如今文化冲突、关系支离的后疫情时代，《抱抱》正体现出一种试图消除误解与隔阂的意愿，以及对过去一段灰暗时期里饱受摧残的精神世界的修复。

　　在当下潮流艺术泛滥的“浅图像”时代，袁进华的作品因为拥有传统积淀而显厚重、珍贵。他的作品总能令人放下戒备，这源于其日常生活中平和自然的状态；画面中鲜明的色彩以及其间流露的活泼与玩世，映射的亦是他“逆生长”的年轻心态。袁进华没有违心地重复陈旧图式，亦不为迎合“传统”而故作深沉--能拥抱和表达自己内心真实所想，这是他作为艺术家最基本的诚实。

　　Yuan Jinhua is an artist who is generous in embracing new things. His artistic creation originated from the rich and profound tradition of ink painting， however， he also broke away from old formulas and rules， constantly exploring new possibilities by breaking boundaries. For him， brush-ink and techniques are no longer topics of discussion， but more importantly， how to use them to express the feelings of the current era and make a response.

　　He condensed his thoughts and feelings into a pattern of hugs， with a subtle internal connection. As a series of artistic creations that have lasted for nearly a decade， Yuan Jinhua‘s Hug Me constantly derives new significance in changing contexts. Its unchanging core is his exploration of “relationships”. Although human nature is essentially a collection of social relationships， dating back to the beginning of Eastern and Western civilizations， the world was seen as a whole， and everything merged in a harmonious and symbiotic relationship. The self (soul) and the world were not separated. However， as people are constantly magnified， order begins to become imbalanced and chaotic， especially in a commercialized consumer society where individual values are reflected in kind of relationships， and people are increasingly objectified and alienated. The hugs in Yuan Jinhua’s works mean breaking the boundaries of physical nature and reuniting the scattered inner world. Especially in the post-pandemic era of cultural conflicts and fragmented relationships， Hug Me is reflecting a willingness to try to eliminate misunderstandings and barriers， as well as a restoration of the spiritual world that has been ravaged in a dark period of the past.

　　In the current era of “superficial images” where pop art is rampant， Yuan Jinhua‘s artworks are precious due to his years of traditional accumulation. His works always make people let down their alertness， which stems from his peaceful and natural state in daily life. The bright colours in the picture， as well as the liveliness and playfulness conveyed in it， reflect his vitality of “anti-growth”. Yuan Jinhua did not repeat old patterns against his will， nor did he pretend to be profound in order to cater to “tradition” - his ability to express his true inner thoughts was his fundamental honesty as an artist.
